Hello, I'm
AmanKumar
Full Stack Developer & Artist
I build thoughtful software and create visual art — where clean code meets considered design.
Who I Am
I'm a full stack developer with a background in both engineering and the fine arts. I spend my days building web applications and my evenings with a brush or a camera — two practices that, for me, come from the same impulse: making something that works and feels right.
On the code side I focus on building clean, performant products — from database schema to the pixel-level details of a UI. I care about the craft: readable code, thoughtful architecture, and interfaces that don't get in the way of people using them.
On the creative side I paint primarily in oils and watercolour, and I shoot street and landscape photography. Both disciplines have made me a better developer — they've taught me to look harder, iterate without ego, and know when to stop.
Selected Projects
Vyoma — The Sky, Calculated
A full-stack Vedic astrology engine that computes complete birth charts, panchanga, dashas, transit tables, muhurta election tools, ashtakavarga, and shadbala from precise birth coordinates. Powered by Swiss Ephemeris (sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa) through a pure Python computation layer, served via a FastAPI backend with Postgres persistence and offline place search, and presented in a Next.js dashboard with 7 interactive tabs and PDF export.
GMAT Prep
A full-stack GMAT practice website covering all exam sections. Features a timed quiz interface (120s/question), per-session accuracy and timing stats, an error log for reviewing missed questions, advanced topic and difficulty filtering, and custom batch practice sessions.
Archmap
A zero-dependency, offline-first interactive diagram tool that transforms ARCHITECTURE.md and AUDIT_CHECKLIST.md files into a living, clickable architecture map. Features four views — Page→Data, Data Flow, Problem Heatmap, and Fix Order — with clickable nodes that reveal raw queries, issue descriptions, and exact files to change. Runs entirely in a single HTML file with no npm, no server, and no API keys required.
Canvas & Code
This portfolio itself — a personal site showcasing software work, paintings, and photography. Built with Next.js and Cloudinary, featuring a distraction-free fullscreen lightbox, masonry galleries, and image protection.
